Role Description
We are seeking a Copy Editor, Marketing to ensure that all marketing, live events, and agency print and online materials meet the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and brand consistency. You will copyedit across a wide range of formats and channels — digital, print, event, and agency — proofread for grammar, spelling, and style, and maintain strict adherence to deadlines across concurrent deliverables. This role reports to the Copy Director, Marketing and Clinical, and requires active, fluent use of AI tools as a standard part of the editorial workflow.
-
Copyedit electronic and print materials for professional healthcare audiences across websites, email campaigns, social media, and banner ads; event materials including biographies, agendas, presentations, and professional disclosures; and print projects such as postcards, brochures, and ads.
-
Use AI tools — including Claude, ChatGPT, or similar — as a regular part of your editing process, applying them to consistency checks, draft refinement, style flag identification, and repetitive markup tasks while verifying all output with your own editorial judgment before anything ships.
-
Proofread and correct electronic files, page proofs, and final artwork for grammar, spelling, and style, ensuring all materials are error-free before publication or distribution.
-
Identify inconsistencies and offer clear, constructive suggestions to improve awkward or unclear body copy, headlines, titles, and display type.
-
Respect CME and Medical and Legal Review guidelines that may be in conflict with editorial style and brand guides, navigating those tensions with care and accuracy.
-
Check and apply proofing and design changes to documents and layouts using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
-
Ensure all corporate, product branding, legal, and Pharmaceutical Promotion Compliance guidelines are explicitly followed across every deliverable.
-
Maintain strict adherence to deadlines across multiple concurrent assignments without sacrificing quality.
Qualifications
-
At least 1 year of editing and fact-checking experience, preferably in a medical or scientific context such as hospital communications, a healthcare ad agency, or B2B publishing.
-
Demonstrated, active use of AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT in editorial work — including building prompts and using AI agents to improve editing consistency and throughput, with the discipline to verify output before it advances.
-
Strong command of AMA Manual of Style 11th Edition and AP Stylebook, with the ability to apply and balance both across diverse material types.
-
Strong proofreading skills with correct and efficient use of markup tools in Adobe Acrobat PDF markup.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint including track changes; Adobe Acrobat Pro experience preferred.
-
Experience with content management systems preferred.
-
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments with tight deadlines in a fast-moving production environment.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, diplomatic feedback on language and style.
-
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
Requirements
-
Candidates should be prepared to discuss how they are currently using AI in their copyediting or marketing editorial work.
-
Specific tools in active use and how they are applied to consistency checks, style flag identification, draft refinement, or markup workflows across marketing and event materials.
-
How you build and refine prompts or use AI agents to improve editing accuracy and throughput on high-volume, multi-format content.
-
How you validate AI-assisted edits against brand guidelines, style guides, and compliance requirements before materials advance in the approval process.
-
Bonus: examples of AI-enhanced editorial workflows that improved turnaround time, consistency, or error rates on marketing, agency, or event content.
