Role Description

We’re looking for an experienced copywriter who can write clear, persuasive emails, identify what needs improving, and explain the reasoning behind their work. You’ll work across three audiences: homeowners considering personal insurance, business owners considering commercial insurance, and insurance agency owners considering Maverick’s services. You’ll also support Maverick’s own follow-up and nurture campaigns.

Occasionally, you’ll build specialist campaigns from scratch, including insurance producer recruitment and agency ownership opportunities. You’ll turn a brief and approved facts into an original message, even when there’s no existing campaign to follow.

Qualifications

• A portfolio of concise, conversational email copy for US audiences, with a clear explanation of your contribution.
• Strong judgment about message angles, audience needs, subject lines, and calls to action.
• An ability to persuade without invented facts, exaggerated promises, or unnecessary pressure.
• Comfort using campaign reports and spreadsheets to form hypotheses, while recognizing when the evidence is limited.
• An understanding that targeting, list quality, delivery, timing, and the offer can affect results alongside copy.
• Reliable estimates, organized work, proactive questions, and a constructive response to feedback.
• Clear spoken and written communication, including the ability to explain your choices on video.
• Use AI confidently in your daily writing workflow: provide useful context, evaluate its suggestions, refine drafts, and check claims. You remain responsible for the final copy and should be able to explain every choice.
• Insurance experience is helpful; strong writing, judgment, and willingness to learn matter more.

Requirements

• Write and refine subject lines, initial emails, follow-ups, and nurture sequences across all three campaign areas.
• Develop original campaign angles for unfamiliar audiences. Ask useful questions, identify missing facts, and explain your approach.
• Understand each audience, offer, and desired response. Use approved facts and flag missing information before making claims.
• Review campaign results and recipient replies to identify objections, unclear messaging, and opportunities for useful tests.
• Propose focused tests with a clear hypothesis, one meaningful change, and a sensible measure of success.
• Check every draft for clarity, tone, accuracy, personalization, formatting, and consistency with the brief.
• Apply feedback efficiently and explain what you changed, why, and what you would evaluate next.
• Communicate progress and recommendations through concise written updates and Loom walkthroughs. Over time, join client discussions alongside our client success lead.
