Burmese-to-English or English-to-Burmese Translator and/or Editor

Remote | Ongoing, Freelance Independent Contractor Opportunity

Important Requirement: Candidates must be U.S. citizens willing to complete a Tier 1 background investigation, including fingerprinting.

GLS is seeking an experienced Burmese-to-English or English-to-Burmese translator and editor to support ongoing document translation and editing assignments. This remote, freelance independent contractor role involves:

• Translating Burmese to English or English to Burmese into an accurate product.
• Editing and reviewing translated materials for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency.
• Maintaining confidentiality and following all client-specific instructions and formatting requirements.
• Meeting assigned deadlines, including one-to-two-day turnaround timelines when required.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and current residence in the United States are required.
• Native or highly proficient Burmese and English language skills.
• A Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, language studies, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Two to five years of proven experience as a translator and/or editor.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent formatting skills, and the ability to produce client-ready work.
• Reliable, deadline-oriented, highly productive, and comfortable working independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, professional approach.
• Access to up-to-date Windows software and the ability to work with standard document formats.
• Able to provide per-word rates for translation and editing.
• Willingness to accept assignments on an as-needed basis.
