Role Description
Deepgram is a voice company. You will craft the voice of voice. We’re hiring a Brand Copy Lead to be the writer who turns our brand voice from guidelines into living language: campaign concepts, launch headlines, quippy copy, the first thing a voice says when you press play.
You’re a concept-first writer. You can take a brief and craft the core idea into something unmissable. You think like a strategist: you know who we’re talking to, what we need them to believe, and why this channel. And you’re quippy in the way the best brand writers are: sharp, surprising, and never at the expense of clarity.
The Copy Lead sits inside our Brand Studio alongside brand strategy & narrative, design, brand marketing, and web. We’re mid-rebrand, with a new verbal identity landing now. You’ll be the person who brings it to life in market, at speed.
What You’ll Do
-
Concept and write brand campaigns
-
Lead copy concepting for brand campaigns, from the first brief through final lines: develop multiple distinct creative directions, write the headlines, and articulate the idea behind each one.
-
Write for the big canvases: out-of-home, audio and podcast, video and launch films, social, sponsorships, and brand activations.
-
Partner with design from day one so words and visuals land as one idea, not copy dropped into a layout.
-
Adapt campaigns for global markets and audiences, working with regional teams to keep the idea intact and the line locally right.
-
Own the application of Deepgram’s verbal identity across every brand surface: website, product launches, events and signage, ads, email, and internal moments.
-
Write for voice, literally. Write copy for Deepgram’s website, events, experiential and across brand moments, so we always speak Deepgram.
-
Contribute to naming: products, voices, programs, and campaigns.
-
Run brand copy review across the studio: ads, web pages, launch materials, and agency work. Give edits and notes that make the work sharper without flattening it.
-
Translate product marketing and technical input into copy that’s accurate and interesting.
-
Evolve the voice guidelines with what we learn in market: example lines, do/don’t libraries, channel-by-channel tone flex.
-
Lead with an AI-forward approach. Use and build AI tools (voice copilots, prompt libraries, review workflows) that help the whole company write on-brand, faster.
-
Create the playbooks that let the team scale: copy brief templates, review checklists, and channel-specific copy specs.
Qualifications
-
6–8+ years of copywriting experience, with significant time concepting brand campaigns, ideally split between an agency and an in-house team at a fast-moving technology or consumer brand.
-
A portfolio that shows ideas, not just execution: campaign concepts, headlines, and lines that made it into the world, with OOH, audio, or video work strongly preferred.
-
Strategic thinking. You can read a brief, interrogate it, and explain why your idea is the right answer for the audience and the business.
-
A distinctive, quippy voice, and the range to write in someone else’s. You can flex from punchy campaign line to clear product explanation without losing the brand.
-
Speed with quality. You can turn around a strong first round in a day when the deadline demands it, and you know when a line isn’t done yet.
-
Comfort translating technical products for multiple audiences: developers, enterprise buyers, and the people who influence them.
-
A collaborative, low-ego approach to feedback, from giving it to agencies to taking it from product teams.
-
Excellent judgment and taste. A point of view on brands, campaigns, and culture, and the curiosity to keep developing it.
Bonus Points
-
Experience writing for developer, AI, or other technical brands.
-
Experience writing for voice: audio ads, scripts, conversational UI, or voice assistants.
-
Naming and verbal identity experience.
-
Experience writing for global or APAC markets.
