Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years working with endpoint management, software packaging, patch management, or MDM solutions such as Intune, SCCM/ConfigMgr, Jamf, Munki, Chocolatey, winget, Homebrew, or similar.
• Strong Windows software packaging experience, including MSI, EXE, and MSIX installers, silent installation switches, Add/Remove Programs registry keys, per-user vs. per-machine installations, SYSTEM execution, and x64/arm64 architectures.
• Strong macOS software packaging experience, including PKG and DMG handling, application bundles, bundle IDs, universal and architecture-specific builds, and application patching.
• Strong PowerShell and Bash scripting skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and modify existing installer wrappers and automation scripts.
• Hands-on TypeScript experience for building and maintaining URL resolvers, version-resolution logic, and automation components using Node, Deno, or similar runtimes.
• Experience working with YAML-based declarative systems, with strong attention to schemas, metadata consistency, and maintainability.
• Strong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, including troubleshooting and improving multi-stage workflows, automated validation, VM-based testing, and pull request processes.
• Strong understanding of HTTP behavior and software distribution patterns, including redirects, stable download URLs, version discovery, CDN restrictions, authentication barriers, and bot protection.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose installation and patching failures from limited evidence such as logs, metadata, and exit codes without direct access to the affected device.
• Ability to reverse-engineer poorly documented third-party installers and determine installation, update, removal, detection, and architecture behavior.
• Ability to assess software packaging feasibility and identify applications that should be declined or limited to inventory-only support due to authentication, paywall, bot protection, or distribution constraints.
• Experience troubleshooting and improving existing software packages, including architecture-specific issues, per-user installation behavior, detection mismatches, and failed patches.
• Strong automation mindset, with the ability to turn recurring manual work and escalations into improvements to tooling, resolvers, validation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with AI coding agents and agent-assisted engineering workflows, including reviewing, correcting, validating, and unblocking agent-generated code and pull requests.
• Experience with Go, Python, AWS, vulnerability/CVE data, VM automation, or public package repositories such as winget-pkgs, Chocolatey Community, Homebrew Cask, Munki, or AutoPkg is highly valued.
• Strong ownership and documentation discipline, with the ability to maintain playbooks and knowledge bases that allow others to reproduce and support the work.
• Strong English communication skills for an async-first environment, including clear technical documentation, feasibility decisions, and pull request descriptions.

• Own the end-to-end delivery and reliability of third-party application packages across Windows and macOS, from installer analysis and automated validation to production patching.
• Combine deep packaging expertise with scripting, TypeScript, CI/CD, and AI-assisted engineering to ship applications while continuously improving the automation behind the catalog.
