[Hiring] Software Engineer II, Backend @Affirm

Role Description

The Consumer Payments team works to ensure that any customer can successfully utilize their financial data and preferred payment method to transact, without harming their financial health. The systems owned by the Consumer Payments team move billions of dollars per year, meaning reliability and scalability are at the heart of everything we do.

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics to support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle.
• Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
• Create and monitor metrics to support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts.
• Engage in growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Ability to transform simple problems into solutions that interact with multiple software components.
• Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.

Requirements

• Base Pay Grade - L
• Equity Grade - 4
• GBP base pay range per year: £101,000 - £149,000
• Location: Remote UK
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
