Role Description

The Software Development Engineer II is a developing level engineering position focused on design, development, troubleshooting, and analysis of Syniverse products. This role is responsible for defining, participating in, and supporting all required testing activities to ensure all developing processes and controls are adhered to and completed in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products.
• Consults with engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, develop specifications and performance requirements, or resolve customer problems.
• Assists peers in product and systems technical details, management of issues, and all aspects of the respective role.
• Coordinates installation of Software System/Releases/Builds.
• Modifies existing software to correct errors, adapt it to new hardware, or upgrade interfaces and improve performance.
• Manages issues of differing stages of investigation and priority with inputs from team members.
• Ensures software security by developing programs to actively monitor the sharing of private information.
• Maintains technical expertise by keeping abreast of technologies as they apply to Syniverse products and services.
• Executes post-release health checks.
• Timely escalations, follow-ups, and responses.
• Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
• Prepares reports or correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, or status.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology (B.E/B.Tech) and/or postgraduate of computer science (M.Sc./MCA) with basic knowledge in JAVA, Unix, Shell Scripting, RDBMS concepts, PL/SQL.
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience in application support, technical customer support, problem management, relational databases, programming languages, software development, or products testing and Quality Assurance.
• Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, coding, testing, supporting, troubleshooting, configuring, and supporting Unix servers and storage servers and management software.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of Java, J2EE, UNIX, Oracle Database, and SQL.
• Ability to communicate status updates to project team and management.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Exceptional customer service skills and demeanor, along with the innovative ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical clients.
• Excellent analytical, multitasking, detail orientation, and familiarity with testing and troubleshooting techniques.
