[Hiring] Software Engineer @Olo

Role Description

In this role, you’ll join as a Software Engineer on the ‘Core’ team, which is part of the wider ‘Order Engineering’ group. The Core team owns key parts of Olo’s platform, including:

• Baskets
• Orders
• Checkout
• Promotions
• Capacity management
• Services that power ordering experiences at scale

As a Software Engineer on this growing team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of these systems. Your responsibilities include:

• Guiding technical decisions
• Improving platform reliability and scalability
• Contributing hands-on code
• Mentoring other engineers

This is an opportunity to have meaningful influence across a broad and business-critical area of the platform while helping evolve the architecture for the next stage of growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• At least 1.5 years of experience in a software engineering role
• Proficient in C#/.Net and familiar with basic programming constructs and design patterns
• Basic understanding of version control tools (e.g., GitHub)
• Familiarity with writing unit tests and test-driven development frameworks (e.g., NUnit, Jest)
• Basic understanding of how distributed systems work
• Experience using collaboration platforms for development, such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub

Requirements

• Develop an understanding of the ‘Core’ team's domain and technology stack
• Handle small-to-medium features with support from more senior engineers
• Write code adhering to established coding standards
• Collaborate with team members to understand feature requirements
• Focus on building reliable and maintainable software components
• Utilise version control systems to manage code changes
• Participate in team meetings and sprint ceremonies
• Engage in learning activities, including game days and training sessions
• Troubleshoot and debug issues with guidance
• Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders
• Demonstrate ownership of the team's delivery pipeline
• Use Claude Code and GitHub Copilot extensively
• Active participation in on-call duties is required
