[Hiring] Senior SQL Server Architect @Tech Holding

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced MS SQL Architect, for a project-based assignment, to lead the design, optimization, and modernization of enterprise database environments. This is a hands-on architecture role focused on SQL Server performance, scalability, and migration strategy.

• Work closely with engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to assess existing database environments, design scalable solutions, and drive improvements across performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Own database architecture decisions, including migration strategy, performance optimization, and scalability planning across production environments.
• Ideal for someone who can operate both strategically and hands-on, with deep expertise in SQL Server and experience supporting high-volume, production-grade systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, high-performance SQL Server environments.
• Assess existing database systems and define architecture improvements across performance, indexing, and query optimization.
• Lead end-to-end database migration initiatives (on-prem to cloud, version upgrades, or re-platforming).
• Optimize stored procedures, queries, and schema design for large-scale datasets.
• Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, and automation strategies.
• Implement best practices for backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery (HA/DR).
• Analyze and resolve complex performance bottlenecks in production environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and database developers.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across database systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
• Proven experience operating at an Architect or Senior-level DBA capacity with ownership of database decisions.
• Deep expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with SQL Server 2016 or newer.
• Hands-on experience with high availability solutions (Always On, clustering, replication).
• Proven experience leading database migrations end-to-end (on-prem to AWS/Azure or hybrid environments).
• Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and large-scale data modeling.
• Experience supporting high-volume, production-grade systems.
• Advanced T-SQL skills.

Nice to have Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (RDS, EC2) or Azure SQL.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation tools (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).
• Experience with monitoring and performance tools (SQL Profiler, Query Store, etc.).
• Exposure to data warehousing or ETL processes (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, etc.).
• Experience working in consulting or client-facing environments.
