[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @Miovision

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced, AI-first Senior Software Engineer to join our Adaptive team. Our Adaptive product operates at the cutting edge of real-time traffic signal optimization, adjusting signal timings second-by-second to manage physical vehicle flow at intersections. This work spans traffic operations, field devices, distributed systems, and real-time data under high domain ambiguity.

• Navigate complex, ambiguous problems to build reliable production outcomes.

This is a hands-on product engineering role, not an AI research or model-development position. You will take complete ownership of ambiguous problems and establish AI-enabled software practices that shape how engineering is done across Miovision.

Objectives and Responsibilities

• Rapid Context Building & Problem Solving:
  • Rapidly build deep context across domain concepts, customer needs, real-time traffic operations, edge devices, distributed system architecture, and legacy codebase.
  • Translate ambiguous, incomplete requirements or complex system failures into clear problem definitions, technical designs, working prototypes, and production software.
• AI-First Execution & Agentic Workflows:
  • Utilize AI tools and agentic workflows as a primary part of day-to-day software delivery, including system exploration, design, implementation, automated testing, debugging, and production operations.
  • Break complex initiatives into structured work that can be executed effectively by both engineers and AI agents.
  • Provide clear context, constraints, guardrails, and evaluation criteria to guide AI-assisted coding tools toward accurate and verifiable outputs.
• System Engineering & Production Delivery:
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and operate reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable software across distributed systems and connected infrastructure.
  • Move fluidly across unfamiliar tech stacks, services, and languages whenever a problem demands it.
  • Critically review and evaluate AI-generated code and designs, taking ultimate accountability for overall system quality, security, and performance.
  • Use prototypes and short feedback loops to reduce uncertainty before committing to larger technical investments.
  • Make pragmatic trade-offs between customer value, delivery speed, reliability, security, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Collaboration & Engineering Excellence:
  • Partner closely with Product, Architecture, QA, Cloud, Customer Support, customers, and other engineers to connect technical work to measurable outcomes.
  • Create supporting documentation, test suites, guardrails, and observability tools to make AI-assisted development safe and repeatable.
  • Share effective AI workflows, mentor other engineers, and help define how AI-first engineering should operate across Miovision.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional software engineering experience delivering complex, scalable production systems (8+ years preferred but not required with equivalent demonstrated capability).
• Proven track record of building customer-facing products and making sound, high-judgment engineering decisions in fast-paced environments with incomplete or evolving information.
• Curious, adaptable, and eager to challenge legacy software development norms while upholding a strict commitment to engineering excellence.
• Outstanding ability to articulate technical assumptions, trade-offs, and risks clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience using frontier AI models, modern AI coding tools, or AI agents to significantly accelerate development speed, quality, or scope.
• Ability to break down architecture and context effectively so AI tools produce verifiable, maintainable code.
• Strong foundation in system design, debugging, testing, reliability, security, maintainability, and production operations.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, data-intensive applications, and cloud/connected device platforms.
• Ability to become effective quickly in an unfamiliar technical stack or business domain, reasoning about code across multiple modern languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, TypeScript, Python).
• Familiarity with Git, containers, CI/CD pipelines, Linux-based systems, observability, and production troubleshooting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience) is an asset.
