[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer II, Route Planning @Samsara

Role Description

Our customers are faced with a constant stream of decisions every day to meet the commitments they have made to their own customers:

• Which orders need to be delivered when
• Which driver is equipped to drive which truck
• How to balance delivering every order against fleet utilization and the profitability of their business

As an engineer on the Route Planning team, you might work on a product that helps customers recover efficiency in their plans that has degraded with the addition of new customers or deal with the sudden influx of orders on the day of delivery. You will also help measure efficiency of the plans across our Routing products, including route execution and commercial navigation.

We are a rapidly scaling team that has found product market fit and is expanding to new verticals. We are looking for someone who will help us shape and build the next generation of Route Planning products.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US and Canada. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Demonstrated ability executing in ambiguous environments
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal navigating conversations with a technical audience or a customer

Requirements

• Proven experience shaping and improving routing and navigation products
• A passion for mentoring and helping junior engineers grow
• A track record of thriving in 0→1 teams and scaling them through the post–startup phase
• Experience operating as a tech lead or in a similar technical role directly impacting output of other engineers
• Willingness to engage directly with customers when needed

Benefits

• Annual Base Salary: $154,700 — $260,000 USD
