Role Description

Seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support cloud-native enterprise applications in AWS. The ideal candidate has strong Java and Python development experience, expertise in distributed systems, and a proven track record operating highly available production environments.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support cloud-native applications and services.
• Build REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions.
• Participate in architecture and technical design decisions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and infrastructure deployment.
• Mentor developers and participate in code reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience with Java 21+, Spring Boot, and Python.
• Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strong AWS experience with:
  • ECS/Fargate
  • EventBridge
  • SQS/SNS
  • Lambda
  • S3
  • Aurora PostgreSQL/PostgreSQL
  • CloudWatch
• Experience designing and supporting highly available applications across multiple AWS Availability Zones and Regions.
• Experience with disaster recovery, failover testing, business continuity, and improving Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, or higher.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and CloudFormation.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, and database performance tuning skills.
• Experience with automated testing using JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting production systems.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EDI systems and B2B integrations.
• Experience in transportation, railroad, logistics, or other high-volume transaction-processing environments.

• Has hands-on AWS operational experience.
• Understands resiliency, disaster recovery, and cloud-native architecture.
• Excels at production troubleshooting.
• Provides technical leadership and mentorship.
