[Hiring] Senior Engineer @RYZ Labs

Role Description

Ryz Labs is looking for a Senior Engineer to take ownership of key parts of the platform, from system design and architecture to production code and long-term reliability. This role has one specific requirement: hands-on experience working with maps, coordinates, and geospatial data.

A major part of the platform involves:

• Extracting geometry from documents
• Placing it at real-world coordinates
• Measuring it
• Exporting it for use in the field

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building production software, with increasing ownership of architecture and technical decisions
• Strong production experience with TypeScript and Node.js
• Hands-on experience working with maps, coordinates, geometry, or geospatial data in a real-world application
• Experience with one or more of the following: GIS, GeoJSON, KML, routing, asset mapping, fleet tracking, logistics, agriculture, drones, or similar geospatial applications
• Experience working with messy real-world data, including inconsistent formats, missing fields, and unreliable or incomplete sources
• Experience building systems where incorrect outputs can have meaningful business consequences
• Strong judgment around data quality, correctness, and when a system should explicitly indicate that an answer cannot be determined
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Requirements

• Background in civil engineering, surveying, asphalt, construction estimating, or related fields (Nice to Have)
• Familiarity with construction plans, stationing, alignments, and pay items (Nice to Have)
• Experience with hauling, logistics, routing, or haul-distance calculations (Nice to Have)
• Experience with DOT bid documents (Nice to Have)
• Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, B2W, HeavyBid, or HardDollar (Nice to Have)
• Experience with 3D geospatial data, including terrain and surface models, point clouds, cut/fill volumes, or similar applications (Nice to Have)
• Experience with tools or libraries such as Turf.js, proj4js, PostGIS, or comparable geospatial technologies (Nice to Have)
