Role Description

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Enterprise Resource Division (ERP), is seeking an experienced Senior Applications Developer to lead the strategic development, deployment, and ongoing optimization of new enterprise interfaces, automation workflows (RPAs), and AZ360 application processes. Operating with significant autonomy, this position directs end-to-end technical project lifecycles—spanning system analysis, architectural design, complex coding, testing, and deployment—while managing and supervising programming staff.

In addition to delivering technical solutions, the successful candidate will provide formal team management and technical leadership by overseeing workload distribution, conducting performance reviews, and mentoring staff across programming standards, task scheduling, design patterns, and high-impact issue resolution.

Job Duties

  • System & Interface Development: Lead the analysis, architectural design, coding, testing, documentation, and implementation of new and existing enterprise interfaces, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) workflows, and system enhancements.
  • Team Leadership & Performance Management: Direct and manage the Integration team’s workflow, conduct performance evaluations, oversee task assignments, train employees, and maintain effective communication channels between management and technical staff.
  • Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance: Review team work products—including detailed program specifications, source code, test plans, and implementation documentation—to ensure high quality, system efficiency, and adherence to established development standards.
  • Customer Collaboration & Technical Support: Partner with business stakeholders, technical support, DBF Operations, and Security teams to translate business requirements and program specifications into functional, high-performing computer code.
  • Testing & Problem Resolution: Perform thorough unit testing, troubleshoot complex system issues to identify root causes and solutions, and actively assist customers during user acceptance testing and production deployment.
  • Code Analysis & System Optimization: Analyze existing codebase to evaluate modification requirements, optimize operational procedures to maximize system efficiency, and independently make critical decisions regarding the quality assurance of the statewide accounting system and related applications.
  • Production Operations & On-Call Support: Provide after-hours support for AZ360 FIN cycles as well as inbound and outbound AZ360 interfaces, including participating in call-back duties to ensure continuous system reliability.

  • Using source-control, development, testing, deployment, and application-management tools.
  • Developing scripts and automation using appropriate programming or scripting technologies.
  • Creating clear technical specifications, application documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Communicating technical concepts effectively to functional analysts, business users, and technical teams.
