[Hiring] Platform Engineering Lead / Architect @Fearless

Role Description

At Fearless, we are seeking a Platform Engineering Lead / Architect as part of our Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services career path to own the technical direction of a large-scale federal healthcare data platform. This is a fully remote role.

• Set the technical direction and architecture for a federal healthcare data platform on AWS, including EKS, EC2, RDS, and multi-VPC environments.
• Design and oversee application and system integrations, including enterprise identity and access management (SSO/IAM).
• Advise customer leadership on technology selection and procurement decisions aligned to platform strategy.
• Provide technical guidance and support to software developers and platform engineers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Guide the Kubernetes and container strategy, including hardened base images and container orchestration patterns.
• Shape CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices using Jenkins, GitHub, and Artifactory to support continuous delivery.
• Ensure architecture decisions meet federal data privacy and security requirements, including NIST 800-53 controls.
• Present the team’s technical approach to the customer, including during oral presentations and technical reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combined education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Expertise designing and operating production cloud architectures on AWS, including EC2, EKS, RDS, and VPC design across multiple environments.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration at enterprise scale, including hardened/gold base images.
• Proven track record leading application and system integrations, including identity and access integrations (SSO/IAM).
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory) and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Demonstrated ability to advise on technology selection and provide technical direction to engineering teams.
• Working knowledge of data privacy and IT security principles, including NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP or similar federal frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Experience designing and implementing monitoring, logging, and observability for production cloud systems (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch).
• Experience building and delivering hardened container images (e.g., CIS-benchmarked, STIG-hardened, or agency gold images).

Requirements

• Experience implementing large databases and enterprise services solutions.
• Experience with federal government cloud environments, particularly federal healthcare agencies.
• Knowledge of Drupal/PHP application architectures.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog and Splunk.
• AWS certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
