[Hiring] Mobile Lead @SimpleStudy

Role Description

• Own the React Native app end-to-end — architecture, performance, release process, and roadmap — without needing the problem framed in advance.
• Lead and mentor the two existing engineers already supporting mobile, setting technical direction and raising the bar for mobile craft.
• Partner directly with Affan on engineering strategy and with Oisin on product direction where mobile intersects with growth, onboarding, and retention.
• Drive native-feel polish: smooth animations, responsive interactions, platform-specific conventions (iOS/Android).
• Work in a PLG/A/B testing environment — ship features, instrument, measure impact, iterate fast.
• Own app store presence and release cadence — versioning, store optimization, crash/performance monitoring.
• Potentially help grow a dedicated mobile team as the app becomes a bigger part of the business.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Typescript.
• Strong experience with React Native.
• Proven experience building and shipping consumer-grade mobile applications.
• Familiarity with common mobile tools and libraries (e.g., Expo, Firebase, push notifications, app store deployment).
• Experience with Tailwind, TanStack Query, React Native Reanimated and Jotai (or Zustand/Redux).
• Experience with leading and managing test teams.
• Bonus: iOS development (Swift).
• Bonus: Android development (Kotlin).

Requirements

• Remote in Europe (preference: Western/continental Europe).
• Portugal relocation sponsorship possible.
