[Hiring] Mainframe NATURAL / ADABAS Developer @Artech

Role Description

The Mainframe NATURAL / ADABAS Developer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting NATURAL applications running in a mainframe environment.

• Design and support applications using ADABAS, including database queries, data access, updates, and troubleshooting.
• Perform production support and day-to-day operational activities, including incident investigation and issue resolution.
• Analyze existing legacy applications and implement enhancements, fixes, and change requests based on business requirements.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
• Troubleshoot application and database issues across NATURAL, ADABAS, and DB2 environments.
• Perform impact analysis, coding, unit testing, debugging, and deployment support for application changes.
• Collaborate with business analysts, application teams, database teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders.
• Support production releases, maintenance activities, and post-deployment validation.
• Document technical solutions, application changes, procedures, and operational processes.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify and resolve recurring production issues.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and recommend solutions to improve application stability.
• Follow established mainframe development, testing, change-management, and production-support processes.
• Support knowledge transfer and maintain documentation for legacy NATURAL/ADABAS applications.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications using NATURAL.
• Extensive experience with ADABAS database, including application development, data access, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Solid experience working in mainframe environments with a good understanding of mainframe architecture and application operations.
• Proven experience supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing mainframe applications and handling day-to-day production operations.
• Working knowledge of DB2 and preferably COBOL in a mainframe environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements

• COBOL development experience in addition to NATURAL/ADABAS.
• Experience supporting healthcare industry mainframe applications.
• Strong experience with production support, incident troubleshooting, and application modernization/enhancement in legacy mainframe environments.
