Role Description

Venice is hiring a Principal Applied AI Engineer to build the internal agent platform that empowers various departments across the company. This role is focused on:

• Building the internal agent platform.
• Designing and shipping foundational infrastructure for teams to create, deploy, and manage AI agents.
• Deciding the build-vs-orchestrate strategy for agent platforms.
• Dogfooding Venice’s own platform to enhance product development.
• Solving the data privacy problem to ensure company data remains secure.
• Making the platform usable by non-engineers through clean abstractions and good documentation.
• Partnering with every team to understand their needs and pain points.
• Evaluating, iterating, and proving ROI for the platform.
• Evangelizing and educating non-engineering teams about the platform's capabilities.

Qualifications

• Deep experience building production systems.
• Fluency in at least two of the following: Rust, TypeScript, Go, Python.
• Experience with LLM APIs, agent orchestration, and evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to build infrastructure for others to use.
• Comfort with ambiguity and novelty in uncharted spaces.
• Understanding of data privacy as a system design problem.
• Experience building products for non-technical users.
• Excitement about dogfooding and using internal tools for improvement.
• Balanced opinions on build vs. buy strategies.
• Ability to move fast and iterate in production.

Requirements

• Understanding of distributed systems, API design, and data pipelines.
• Ability to communicate clearly without jargon.
• Experience with access controls and data classification.
