Role Description

Progressive Technology Federal Systems, Inc. (PTFS) has an opening for a Full Stack Java Engineer.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise applications using Spring Boot and React.
• Develop scalable REST APIs, Java microservices, and Single Page Applications.
• Design and integrate enterprise search capabilities using SolrCloud.
• Troubleshoot and optimize multi-tier applications across Java, JavaScript, Linux, web, and search platforms.
• Develop automated unit, integration, functional, security, and performance tests.
• Participate in CI/CD, DevSecOps, production support, monitoring, and incident troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain clear technical and operational documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of U.S. work experience in full-stack software engineering, developing enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong frontend development experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Experience developing and supporting distributed, multi-tier applications on Linux.
• Strong troubleshooting, application profiling, and performance-tuning skills.
• Experience with GitLab/GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with TDD/BDD, automated testing, integration testing, and performance testing.
• Experience working in Agile Scrum and/or Kanban teams.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• Public Trust eligibility; active clearance preferred.

• Docker, and containerized microservices (preferred)
• Cypress, JMeter, Rapid7, and DevSecOps/security testing (preferred)
• Spring Cloud, Spring AI, NLP, and Generative AI (preferred)
• Microsoft Azure, or other cloud platforms (preferred)
• Nginx, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk (preferred)
• AI assisted development using GitHub Copilot or Claude Code (preferred)

Education

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and 7+ years of related experience.
