[Hiring] Front End Engineer @eCommission

3d ago - eCommission is hiring a remote Front End Engineer. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

eCommission has been the largest commission advance provider in residential real estate for more than 25 years, and we're investing heavily in technology and new products to expand what we deliver to agents and brokers. The biggest of those is Symba, an AI-powered portal for realtors that brings their deals, commissions, and day-to-day work into one smart workspace, on web and mobile.

The Front End Engineer owns the Symba experience on every screen an agent touches: AI chat, dashboards, and transaction workflows in the browser and in our mobile app. This is a hands-on engineering role at heart, sitting within our technology team and working closely with product and backend engineers. You'll write the code, build the components, and ship the features yourself.

Core Responsibilities

  • Web Front End
    • Build fast, polished, responsive interfaces in React and TypeScript.
    • Help plan and carry out the Angular to React migration without disrupting users.
    • Create shared components and patterns so new features ship in days, not weeks.
    • Keep the codebase clean and consistent: a shared component library, a sensible file structure, and disciplined use of pull requests.
  • Mobile (React Native)
    • Build and ship Symba's mobile app in React Native for iOS and Android.
    • Share components, business logic, and API layers between web and mobile where it makes sense.
    • Handle the mobile essentials: push notifications, offline and poor-network states, secure login, and performance on real devices.
    • Own the release process to the App Store and Google Play, including builds, testing, and store submissions.
  • AI Experiences
    • Build the AI-driven experiences at the heart of Symba: conversational UI, streaming responses, and agent workflows.
    • Design interfaces that make AI output clear, trustworthy, and easy to act on for busy real estate agents.
    • Partner with backend engineers on the APIs and data that power those experiences.
  • Quality and Testing
    • Write automated tests, including unit tests and end-to-end tests with tools like Playwright, and help raise the team's quality bar.
    • Own QA across browsers, devices, and screen sizes before anything goes live.
    • Monitor front-end errors and performance in production, and fix issues before agents notice them.
  • Collaboration
    • Review code, give and take feedback, and help shape a strong team coding culture.
    • Partner with product on UX, and push back when something won't serve agents well.
    • Work with our outside development partner, holding the work to a high standard.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Integration: connect the front end to our APIs, authentication, and third-party services.
    • Performance: track and improve load times, responsiveness, and app stability.
    • Roadmap input: help estimate, plan, and prioritize frontend work against business impact.

Qualifications

  • Required
    • 4+ years of hands-on experience building production web apps, with deep React and TypeScript skills.
    • Hands-on React Native experience, with at least one app shipped to the App Store or Google Play.
    • Strong HTML, CSS, and accessibility fundamentals, plus an eye for detail.
    • Experience with state management, API integration, and performance on both web and mobile.
    • Comfort with version control, pull requests, CI/CD, and deploying changes to production safely.
    • A testing mindset, with experience writing unit and end-to-end tests.
  • Preferred
    • Experience building AI or LLM product interfaces.
    • Experience with Expo, native modules in Swift or Kotlin, or mobile CI/CD tools like EAS or Fastlane.
    • Experience with mobile analytics and crash reporting tools such as Sentry or Firebase.
    • Experience in real estate, fintech, or another regulated industry.
    • Experience with a design system or component library, and some familiarity with Google Cloud.

Benefits

  • Incredibly Supportive Culture
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Holidays
  • Health Insurance: Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Employer paid LTD, STD & Basic Life Insurance
  • Retirement Plan with Matching Contribution
  • Tenure Based Rewards
  • In-office & Offsite Events
