[Hiring] Billing Cycle Operations Engineer @GlobalLogic

Role Description

This role owns end-to-end reliability engineering for T-Mobile's telecom billing platforms - spanning real-time incident response, billing cycle health, automation development, and observability across the BSS/billing portfolio.

• Deep expertise in telecom billing systems (Amdocs experience preferred) production automation, blameless postmortems, and a relentless drive to eliminate toil.
• Set the standard - owning the hardest billing incidents, driving systemic fixes, and elevating the team's engineering practice through mentorship, tooling, and AI-powered automation.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in Telecom Billing Operations, BSS Support, or technical platform operations - with a strong software/automation foundation.
• Deep expertise in telecom billing platforms (Amdocs) and the full billing lifecycle for mobile, broadband, and enterprise services.
• Demonstrated technical leadership: led incident response for billing-critical systems, driven blameless postmortems, and influenced engineering practices across a team.
• Track record of measurable toil reduction through automation, AI agents, or tooling investment in a billing or BSS operations context.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to diagnose billing discrepancies across complex multi-system workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable authoring RCA documents, architecture notes, and stakeholder updates.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) to automate operational workflows - and ability to lead others in doing the same.
• Billing & BSS Platforms: Deep hands-on experience with Amdocs, or comparable telecom billing systems; understanding of BSS/OSS architecture and integration patterns.
• Scripting & Automation: Proficient in Python, Shell/Bash, and PL/SQL for production automation, data validation, and billing pipeline scripting.
• Job Scheduling: Experience with Control-M or equivalent enterprise schedulers for managing billing cycle jobs and batch workflows.
• Observability: Working knowledge of monitoring/observability platforms (Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics, or similar); able to design billing-specific monitoring strategy, not just configure dashboards.
• SQL & Data: Strong SQL/PL/SQL proficiency for billing data validation, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.
• Incident & Change Management: Familiarity with ITIL processes; experience with ServiceNow and Jira for incident, problem, and change management.
• REST APIs: Experience with REST API testing and integration debugging across BSS/OSS systems.
• Version Control: Git proficiency; comfortable with branching strategies and PR review workflows.
• AI & Agent Tooling: Able to design, build, and maintain AI agents for billing operational workflows; set team standards for agent quality and lead adoption.
• Cloud & CI/CD: Working knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).

Requirements

• Experience with Unix/Linux system administration in a telecom BSS/OSS environment.
• Familiarity with revenue assurance and fraud management systems.
• Infrastructure-as-code familiarity (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Experience with iPaaS platforms for billing system integrations.
• Exposure to eTOM/ITIL frameworks in a telecom operational context.
• Python-based automation of billing reconciliation, alert handling, or runbook execution.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor end-to-end billing cycle operations for Mobile, Broadband, Enterprise, and B2B/B2C customers - ensuring accurate, timely invoice generation and zero-defect bill runs.
• Validate billing data pre-run; identify and resolve discrepancies, adjustments, credits, and invoice disputes before they impact customers.
• Perform bill reconciliation and revenue assurance across BSS platforms; monitor KPIs and SLAs for billing accuracy and turnaround time.
• Lead incident response for P1/P2 billing events: triage, cross-system diagnosis, stakeholder communication, and resolution - then own the blameless post-incident review.
• Support month-end and year-end billing close activities; ensure compliance with audit requirements and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate across Order Management, Provisioning, Finance, Collections, and IT to resolve systemic billing issues.
• Serve as technical lead and escalation point for complex, multi-system, or high-severity billing incidents.
• Drive runbook completeness and automation quality: set standards, close gaps, and ensure every runbook is actionable and verified.
• Own blameless postmortems for P1/P2 billing incidents; identify systemic root causes and track fixes through to resolution.
• Design and build the team's AI agent roadmap: identify billing workflows where agents can reduce toil, prototype agents, and establish patterns the team follows.
• Mentor and develop team members through code review, pairing, and post-incident coaching.
• Partner with Domain Architects on billing platform architecture decisions that affect SRE operations.
• Prepare operational reports, dashboards, and executive management updates on billing health and SRE metrics.
