Role Description

We are hiring an Associate Software Engineer II to join our Public, Employer, and Broker Portals team at BCBST! In this role, you’ll join a dynamic, agile development team focused on customer-facing web innovation. You’ll work with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Node.js, and Next.js to build and support engaging web pages, applications, and WebAPIs. You’ll collaborate across teams, solve complex problems, share knowledge, and continue developing your skills along a software engineering career path.

To be successful in this role, in addition to the core job requirements, you’ll bring experience with:

• JavaScript
• Node.js
• React
• Next.js
• SQL queries
• Creating and developing WebAPIs

You’ll be a strong candidate if you have experience with:

• Facets and Sitecore
• The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams
• An interest in learning new technologies and solving complex problems
• A desire to grow along a software engineering career path
• Exposure to project management or work management activities

Note: This is a remote, work-from-home position, but the final round of interviews will take place on-site in our Chattanooga, TN office. On-call rotation will be needed once every three months.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested.
• 2 years - Experience in programming required
• 1 year - Experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards required
• 1 year - Expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST.

• Proven skill with information technology in use at BCBST is required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
