Role Description

We are sharing a specialised full-time opportunity for technically capable early-career engineers to support customer data ingestion, data-transfer workflows, validation, and operational delivery within a remote engineering environment. Selected professionals will work alongside Forward Deployed Engineers to execute clearly scoped technical workflows involving customer datasets, ingestion processes, monitoring, validation, documentation, and issue escalation. The role is designed for engineers who are reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating within structured technical processes while developing broader experience across data and customer-facing engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Ingestion & Transfer Operations
  • Prepare, size, and transfer customer datasets across defined technical workflows
  • Execute and monitor data-ingestion processes according to established procedures
  • Validate completed transfers and confirm that expected data has been processed correctly
  • Identify discrepancies, incomplete transfers, or unexpected system behaviour
  • Support reliable movement of customer data across operational environments
• Validation, Monitoring & Issue Identification
  • Review ingestion results and verify data quality, completeness, and consistency
  • Monitor workflows for failures, delays, or unexpected behaviour
  • Use logs, monitoring information, and available diagnostic tools to investigate technical issues
  • Recognise when a problem falls outside established runbooks or expected operating conditions
  • Escalate technical issues appropriately with clear supporting context
• Customer & Internal Communication
  • Communicate status, blockers, outcomes, and required follow-up clearly with customers and internal teams
  • Maintain concise and accurate updates throughout technical workflows
  • Coordinate handoffs between engineering, operations, and customer-facing stakeholders
  • Document relevant decisions, exceptions, and outstanding actions
  • Support smooth execution of scoped customer-data operations through reliable communication
• Technical Operations & Documentation
  • Follow documented runbooks and operating procedures accurately
  • Maintain clear operational documentation and technical handoffs
  • Work with tools and environments involving Python, SQL, APIs, data workflows, and related technologies
  • Handle sensitive customer data carefully and in accordance with established requirements
  • Apply sound judgement when working with production systems and customer-facing technical processes

Qualifications

• Strong ownership, reliability, and attention to detail
• Technical aptitude and ability to learn new tools and systems quickly
• Familiarity with Python, SQL, APIs, or data-processing workflows
• Clear and concise written communication skills
• Ability to follow structured technical processes while recognising when escalation is required
• Good judgement when handling customer data and production systems
• Comfortable working independently on clearly scoped technical tasks
• Experience with large datasets or data pipelines is advantageous
• Familiarity with cloud storage and data-transfer workflows is beneficial
• Experience with command-line tools, Git, or Linux environments is advantageous
• Exposure to ETL, data ingestion, validation, or QA workflows is beneficial
• Experience debugging technical problems using logs or monitoring tools is advantageous
• Familiarity with common data formats such as JSON, CSV, or Parquet is beneficial
• Previous experience in a startup, technical operations, implementation, or customer-facing engineering environment is advantageous

Engagement Details

• Full-time engagement
• Fully remote
• Junior engineering role focused on customer data ingestion and operational technical workflows
• Compensation: $40–$60/hour
• Work will involve dataset preparation, data transfer, ingestion monitoring, validation, technical documentation, and issue escalation
• Responsibilities will be performed within defined processes and with guidance from more experienced engineering team members
• Reliability and availability for scoped technical work are important for this engagement
• Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
