Role Description

UST Global® is looking for a talented and creative iSeries/AS400 Developer for Application Development and Solutions support. The developer will be working with one of the leading Wholesale retailers in the US. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability and know-how to collaborate effectively with domain experts and the IT leadership team.

• Analyze and create new programs using RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
• Knowledge/Hands-on experience working on EDI platform on iSeries.
• Knowledge of various EDI transaction types like 810, 850, 820, 856, preferably knowledge on Trusted Link.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and develop iSeries code that supports various applications in the Retail Domain.
• Create functional specifications for applications supported using standard practices, processes, and procedures.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, coordinate with development team members on development, and QA tasks.
• Adhere to the client's IS division development standards and deployment processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner, business area, team members, and QA to ensure requirements are clearly defined, understood, and documented.
• Participate in development estimation, deployment, and release planning to ensure delivery of solutions.
• Responsible for 2nd level support resolution of daily incident tickets, creation of KB articles for 1st level support, and provide on-call support.
• Perform peer reviews on source code to ensure reuse, scalability, and the use of best practices.
• Participate in collaborative technical discussions that focus on software user experience, design, architecture, and development.

Qualifications

• Excellent programming skills on the iSeries platform - Analyze and create new programs using RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
• Very good knowledge of SQL concepts - Analyze and modify complex SQL queries, embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE, Cursor programming, SQL Sprocs.
• Database Concepts - Create and analyze Physical files, Logical Files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, Stored procedures.
• Good working knowledge in screen programming - Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer files.
• Document business rules effectively and create data mapping documents after analyzing program flows and data flows.
• ILE Programming - Analyze and create program modules, binding directories, service programs.
• Working knowledge of Message Queue (MQ), MQ Trigger, and embedding XML tags in RPG Programs.
• Good communication skills and the ability to own a project task completely based on communication with the analysts at the client site.

Requirements

• Good working knowledge in Turnover - the code configuration management tool.
• Good working knowledge in X-Analysis - cross-reference tool for iSeries.
• Knowledge of Triggers, Message Queuing for inter-program/inter-system communication.
• ROBOT job scheduler - knowledge in creating and setting up scheduled jobs in the iSeries.
• Knowledge of normalized, denormalized tables, Star Schema databases.
• Working knowledge on iSeries Navigator - to run queries and analyze the performance of SQL queries.
• Knowledge in the Retail Domain especially in areas like Merchandising, Warehouse Management, Distribution, etc.
