Role Description
In the role of Vice President (VP) of Application Development, you will be responsible for the management of a geographically dispersed application development and software delivery for your vertical. In this position, you will help foster growth and efficiency for the vertical with delivery of high-quality software solutions within the guidance of the system architecture.
- Manage geographically dispersed application development teams (both onshore and offshore) within assigned brands, establish goals, motivate and oversee coaching and career development.
- Drive applications toward modern product and web designs in accordance with business needs and product roadmaps.
- Provide guidance and standards for the planning and prioritization of resource conflicts, customer demands, and support issues.
- Oversee technical processes from design through development, testing, and deployment to ensure the software comes to life as required and is deployed successfully into production.
- Work with the development managers to establish and maintain standards, design patterns, and frameworks for future projects.
- Work with peers in other verticals to apply consistency across the company as required.
- Study and analyze other technologies, standards, and practices for continuous improvement and to ensure quality of implementation.
- Work with the business to ensure prioritization of activities and alignment of tasks and expectations.
- Collaborate with Information Security team to ensure compliance with established standards, best practices, and quality code development.
- Drive consistency in Software Development processes and methodologies across the vertical.
- Align activities with product roadmaps, participate in PI planning sessions with Product Management.
- Work with partners and vendors to mature the development teams into modern practices and architectures, using the latest tools and systems as required.
- Support business and technology goals accordingly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8-10 years of progressive experience writing code and building applications as a developer, senior developer, and a software architect.
- 7+ Years experience in Software Development Leadership.
- 7+ Years experience in design, development, QA and delivering software products.
Requirements
- Advanced Degree or Professional Certification is preferred.
- Experience building and deploying systems into public cloud using established tools and technologies.
- Experience with Agile / Kanban development methods and practices.
- Experience in development with technologies appropriate to the brands in the vertical.
