Role Description
GM is undergoing a major transformation, both in how we operate and in how we will influence the future of transportation. Our Embedded Platform Systems and Infrastructure (EPSI) team is on the forefront of this work, emboldening our culture by seeking out determined, innovative individuals who will join our team to help move us forward and achieve our mission. We are looking for a high-performing self-driven Systems Engineers to join the newly formed Embedded Platform Application System Engineering Team.
The individual will be highly empowered to Plan, Manage, and Execute Product Systems via the TFRP methodology. The Staff System Engineer shall support decomposing Product and Program requirements into development of System Blueprints for Functions and Testable requirements for SW and HW solutions. They shall connect the testable requirements to iteratively define Co-Simulation environments. They shall work with Product, Program and Engineering leads to define the ‘how’ to design, develop, build, test, calibrate, integrate, and validate our solutions and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Feature, System and Solution BoM for the Product Area
- Change control, architectural allocation and partitioning for optimization
- Works in coordination with Product, Program and various System and Solution teams to ensure solutions under development are fit for intended purpose
- Pivotal role in the definition of co-simulation environments developed for each Product

Deliverables include but not limited to:
- System Blueprint and BoM (Blueprint compilation)
- SimBOM for co-simulation
- Definition of done/acceptance criteria for co-simulation capabilities
- Power Profiles
Qualifications
- Expert in Systems, Controls and Software architecture, Calibration and Testing development processes and tools
- Strong background in Virtual Simulation development
- Highly proficient at analyzing unusual and complex issues while driving for results in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational agility, collaborative spirit and interpersonal skills to influence effectively across all levels of a large organization
- Strong project management skills and the ability to plan, prioritize work and execute the plan to meet business objectives on time with quality
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skill to work effectively with people in other functions and regions
- 7+ years of experience in Systems, Embedded Controls or equivalent Development
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
- Experience in Rhapsody, Agile methodologies and SAFe experience preferred
