Role Description
Join castLabs as a Solutions Architect - Web Applications and help shape the future of video streaming. We are looking for a versatile engineer with strong development skills and video streaming background who can also interact with clients, understand their technical challenges, and design scalable solutions. This role focuses on JavaScript (preferably TypeScript and/or react.js), and client-side development for Web + either Android or iOS applications.
- Develop and optimize secure, scalable solutions for content playback and protection on web-based and either Android and/or iOS applications.
- Design, implement, and maintain JavaScript-based client libraries for secure video streaming.
- Provide hands-on development for proof-of-concept solutions and validate technical strategies.
- Design and build demos for trade shows.
- Act as a technical advisor, guiding customers through the integration of our PrestoPlay Player SDKs and security solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and customer success to ensure seamless implementations.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in video streaming, DRM, and content security technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript with hands-on experience in frontend and backend development.
- Solid understanding of video streaming protocols (e.g., MPEG-DASH, HLS, Smooth Streaming) and content protection solutions (DRM).
- Hands-on experience with video players such as Shaka, Dash.js, Hls.js, ExoPlayer, AVPlayer.
- Experience developing either native Android (Kotlin/Java) or iOS (Swift/Objective-C) applications is a strong plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in parallel.
Requirements
- Familiarity with test-driven development and CI/CD pipelines is preferred but not required.
- Experience with performance optimization in video playback and encoding workflows is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and scalable architecture design is a plus.
- Additional language skills beyond English are a plus.
