Role Description
The Comms Platform team is responsible for managing critical services that are essential to the success and sustainability of our organization. We handle communication send-outs to our customers via email, SMS, and push notifications. These services demand attention to detail, proactive maintenance, and swift response times to ensure seamless operations.
Our recent high-priority initiatives include internationalization efforts and modernization projects, both of which are vital for our organization's growth and competitiveness in the market. These initiatives require dedicated expertise and resources to execute efficiently and effectively.
What You'll Do:
- With the support of your team’s tech lead and manager, break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
- Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
- Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
- Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as a requirement for this role.
Qualifications
- 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
- Ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, easily understood, well-tested, and extensible code.
- Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
- Demonstrated ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
