Role Description
The main purpose of this job is to collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture program and business data stakeholders to ensure that the technical architecture and information ecosystem would enable the organization to achieve business outcomes and generate meaningful value from its data assets.
- Guide technology choices and strategy for the business data domain.
- Develop policies, practices, and standards to support technology architectures.
- Discover & document the data and analytics requirements for information for all uses.
- Manage and support technology architectures in partnership with business and technical leaders.
The Data Architect is responsible for:
- Partnering with business and technical leadership to provide strategic recommendations that maximize the value of data assets.
- Analyzing and optimizing data models for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in the cloud.
- Collaborating with IT Architecture, Information Security, and Data Governance stakeholders to define standards and policies.
- Monitoring and assessing the benefits and risks of change impacting the data ecosystem.
- Providing a future-state view of the business data landscape.
- Collaborating in architectural planning and influencing decisions on data architectural design.
- Assisting leaders in developing data governance processes and structures.
- Facilitating design sessions with business and technology stakeholders.
- Developing and managing data blueprints and information models.
- Proactively managing the classification and zoning of data assets.
- Aiding efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information solutions.
- Analyzing data and analytics security requirements and solutions.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Data Management, Data Science or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in IT or a related field, with at least 5 years in information system design required.
- 4+ years of experience in data management, data modeling, data warehousing and emerging data integration technologies required.
- 2+ years of experience with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis using SQL, Python and data visualization tools preferred.
- Professional training/industry certifications in program management, data science, or PaaS cloud providers preferred.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of system integration, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
- Strong understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
- Strong understanding of metamodels, taxonomies, and ontologies.
- Strong understanding of data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
- Strong understanding of a variety of data access and analytics approaches.
- Strong understanding with enterprise architecture modeling languages or frameworks.
- Ability to develop positive relationships across business and technical domains.
- Ability to assess rapidly changing technological trends and developments.
- Ability to use business capability models to create an information-centric view.
- Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective leveraging business and technical knowledge.
- Strong business and technological acumen.
- Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail.
- Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations.
- High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project and Teams.
