The Cloud Engineering Senior Manager drives strategy and delivery of our Cloud platform for Credit Acceptance. You will lead the Cloud engineering team who is responsible for our Cloud foundation, governance, FinOps, architecture and operations of mission-critical cloud platforms. The Cloud Engineering Senior Manager drives the Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Kubernetes and Service Authentication/Authorization strategy in conjunction with an overall Platform Engineering goal to automate delivery for our internal development teams.
You will be an outward evangelist for your areas ensuring Cloud platform needs are met across our various Engineering teams. Lastly, you’ll do this with a focus on customer obsession and a boundaryless leadership mentality – there’s no problem we can’t solve with the right teamwork.

Outcomes and Activities:

This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member
Lead and mentor a team of Cloud Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Provide hands-on technical guidance and remain involved in the development and implementation of cloud infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Design, implement, and maintain automation pipelines to enhance deployment, monitoring, and security across cloud environments.
Take ownership of key projects, driving them from inception to successful completion.
Partner with engineering teams to optimize platform performance, resiliency, reliability, security, and scalability.
Improve observability and system reliability through monitoring, alerting, and automation.
Develop and enforce best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, CI/CD, and container orchestration.
Advocate for a continuous focus on cost-optimization and apply Cloud FinOps best practices, reporting and tooling to the organizations (e.g. Cloud Custodian)
Design, implement and maintain a Cloud high-availability and disaster recovery strategy for the organization
Conduct architecture reviews, provide technical mentorship, and ensure code quality across the Cloud Engineering team.
Lead the engineering and continuous improvement of a Kubernetes foundation
Align an automated Cloud foundation strategy with DevEx and DevOps to deliver Cloud environments as part of a unified Platform Engineering strategy
Design, implement and maintain Service Authentication and Authorization shared platforms
Be a leader for change management, including great communications, creating buy-in and managing up, down and across your teams
Drive clear prioritization in partnership with the PMO, Product, and stakeholder teams.
Manage risk and execution across a portfolio of workstreams, proactively solving challenges and escalating early and often
Advocate and manage organizational health: everything from whether you have the right mix of talent to the right team size, own the responsibility of ensuring your teams are setup to do their best work
Identify areas of opportunity to remove engineering friction and enable your teams to move quickly and be problem-solving champions. Find ways to get to yes through creative solutioning and optionality

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
Minimum of 8 years' experience leading teams, 1+ year managing managers
Proven experience managing and mentoring engineers, while remaining technically hands-on.
Strong expertise in Cloud infrastructure, networking, security, IaaS and PaaS (AWS preferred, but GCP/Azure also valued).
Deep proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) and cloud-native architectures.
Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Spacelift, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Solid programming skills in Python, Golang, or Bash, with a focus on automation and tooling.
Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, observability, and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
Knowledge of security best practices in Cloud environments, including identity management, secret management, and compliance.
Experience working in highly scalable, distributed microservices environments, including service meshes and API gateways.

Preferred:

Financial Services or FinTech experience
Experience with Gitops in a Developer platform organization
Experience scaling a team and partnering with recruiting to successfully close top talent in a crowded market
Experience building & maintaining a fantastic culture within your teams, including using tools and processes to drive a culture of iterative improvement

Target Compensation: A competitive base salary range from $152,341 to $223,434. This position is eligible for an annual variable bonus of cash and equity, between 15-30%. Final compensation within the range is influenced by many factors including role-specific skills, depth and experience level, industry background, relevant education and certifications.

Candidates who reside in the following major metropolitan areas may be eligible for a premium on top of the posted range based on their specific zone: San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and San Diego.
