Role Description

The Home Loan Advisor - External is responsible for:

• Originating mortgage loans from self-sourced business and personal relationships.
• Discussing mortgage product options via phone, email, or in person with prospective and current borrowers.
• Assisting members with product selection, lock requests, and providing applicable disclosures as required by law.
• Obtaining and analyzing pertinent financial and credit data.
• Completing an initial assessment of the mortgage application, including a review of credit, financial data, and collateral information.
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance.
• Managing the mortgage loan pipeline to ensure prompt and accurate service.
• Overseeing the loan process from origination to close and providing ongoing communication to applicants.
• Renegotiating interest rates and loan terms due to changes in initial qualifications.
• Working closely with the mortgage resource center and operations staff to ensure compliance with credit union standards.
• Consistently noting conversations with members in the LOS for proper communication.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 5+ years in a mortgage-related function with at least two years of generating self-sourced business required.
