Role Description
The Inside Merchant Sales Advisor focuses on growing client relationships with payment and card processing needs. Serves as a member of an Inside Sales team, virtually working as a trusted advisor with partners and clients across Key's Consumer footprint, providing recommendations and solutions to help Small Businesses achieve their goals; will resolve client issues and execute appropriate action to ensure client satisfaction.
- Acquire new merchant services relationships through referrals from KeyBank banking centers and through prospecting external sources within the sales representative's assigned territory including outbound calling/communicating.
- Actively participate in specialized campaigns, working lead lists and referrals from Retail branch, Business Banking, Private Banking and Treasury.
- Present and sell merchant payment processing, including but not limited to credit card, check processing, gift cards, ACH and the corresponding hardware and software products to small and medium size businesses.
- Consult with prospective businesses in identifying the proper payment solution to meet the business needs.
- Identify other banking needs and work with available KeyBank resources and partners to deliver solutions that meet those needs.
- Prospect small and medium size businesses in sale representative's assigned region to supplement bank referrals.
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in training and experience (required)
- 1-3 years payments related experience in a banking environment (required)
- 1-3 years success in a client focused environment with aggressive growth and service goals (required)

- Strong financial acumen including the ability to read and understand financial statements
- Exceptional negotiating and closing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Influence: Describes key concepts of influencing and has the ability to identify key players and decision makers
- Persuasion: Describes the importance of listening to communicate for impact and selects most appropriate communication approach depending on message and audience
- Collaboration: Demonstrates experience in participating in productive collaborative processes that help solve business problems and meet business goals
- Oral & Written Communication: Demonstrates the ability to speak, write, and present in a way that effectively conveys the intended message to an audience
