Role Description
The Area Director, Core Brands, is responsible for driving the performance of a diverse portfolio of midscale and upper midscale hotels.
- Lead the implementation and activation of strategies aimed at increasing property level profitability, guest experience, and revenue.
- Engage with franchised hotel owners and property leadership to elevate hotel performance outcomes.
- Ensure successful application of performance recommendations at the hotel level through strategic advising and regular engagement.
- Collaborate with the Regional Vice President to enhance hotel revenue and profitability.
- Align hotel level performance objectives with company initiatives to achieve overarching business goals.
- Identify and communicate potential portfolio retention risks.
- Monitor the performance of portfolio hotels and prioritize consultative services.
- Engage owners, management companies, and internal stakeholders to improve portfolio performance.
- Track market and competitive trends to seek strategies for revenue and guest satisfaction improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management, Business Management, Marketing, or a relevant field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum fifteen years of progressive hotel operations experience, preferably within midscale and upper midscale segments.
- Minimum of ten years of hotel leadership experience, with preference for multi-unit or franchise performance experience.
- Excellent ability to manage ambiguity and leverage data for decision making.
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills; experience with hotel budget management and GOP analysis.
- Flexibility in creating and adapting strategies for continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong time management and project coordination skills.
- Exceptional training, consulting, and persuasive communication skills.
- Regular travel, approximately 70%, is required for this role.
Requirements
- Conduct property visits and implement recommended solutions to drive hotel performance.
- Utilize reporting resources to influence owner adoption and hotel implementation.
- Drive revenue at portfolio and hotel levels through consultations and collaboration with revenue management resources.
- Monitor performance dashboards and conduct follow-up consultations.
- Identify hotel challenges and deploy operators to support systems for operational improvement.
- Deliver impactful consultations using tailored solutions and fostering owner engagement.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and document interactions.
- Advocate for the adoption of Choice programs and measure their effectiveness.
- Provide timely documentation of business expenses and maintain effective property documentation.

Work Location
The Area Director, Core Brands, will be a remote-based associate in the designated region, working from a home office. Frequent nationwide travel will be required, approximately 70% of the time.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP).
