[Hiring] Applied Genomics Specialist @Illumina

Role Description

The Applied Genomics Specialist (Infectious Disease Testing, Microbial Genomics, Agrigenomics) will be responsible for supporting potential channel sales opportunities by facilitating the translation of expertise and product knowledge into competitive and compelling sales strategies. The goal is to support the promotion of rapid adoption of Illumina technology. The Specialist will support in developing practical solutions and facilitate building a community of satisfied customers by partnering with sales channel partners and marketing in both pre- and post-sales activities.

This role will focus on supporting Illumina's Infectious Disease Testing, Microbial Genomics, and Agrigenomics business in ASEAN to facilitate adoption of Illumina technology across various applications.

• Apply relevant local expertise for Infectious Disease Testing, Microbial Genomics, Agrigenomics, and Environmental Genomics applications.
• Communicate customers’ needs to regional management, global product management, marketing, and market development.
• Facilitate communication of market environment knowledge including trends, practices, and competition.
• Communicate with customers on workflows, study design, solutions, product positioning, and competitor comparisons.
• Support channel sales teams with deep domain knowledge and relevant publications.
• Provide engaging presentations to promote market interest in Illumina technologies.
• Attend relevant trade shows and conferences.
• Coordinate and execute strategic plans for winning new business.
• Support identification and interaction with key customer types.
• Regularly communicate updates to management regarding trends and issues.
• Facilitate development of localized sales tools and training for channel sales teams.
• Spend majority of working time in the field connecting customers with channel partners.
• Assist with other business development activities as time permits.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or PhD in Microbiology, Virology, Public Health, Statistical / Population / Molecular Genetics, or Molecular Biology preferred.

Requirements

• 5-8 years experience in a related environment.
• Experience in at least one of the following fields: Infectious Disease Testing, Microbial Genomics, Agrigenomics, and Environmental Genomics required.
• Fluency in English required.
• Prior field experience supporting customers in a highly technical field preferred.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Familiarity with the competitive landscape and trends in relevant markets.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) presentation and training skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade.
• Proven ability to lead and influence a broad spectrum of constituents.
• Ability to travel within district and regionally, willing to travel up to 50%.
