Role Description

The Penn Center for Media, Technology, and Democracy (Penn MEDIATED) works to advance the scientific understanding of the information ecosystem and leverage that research to strengthen the foundations of democracy.

Penn MEDIATED seeks a research analyst (RA) to assist the Executive Director with research, analysis, and writing on policy issues related to the information ecosystem. This position is eligible for remote work.

The research analyst (RA) will assist the Executive Director in performing research and policy analysis, leading to think tank and other white papers on topics including:

• Synthetic content policy
• How LLMs are changing the information ecosystem
• Pro-democracy messaging
• Scientific funding for social sciences
• Related policy issues

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in a relevant field of study required.
• Strong ability to read and understand quantitative social science or computational research.
• Excellent written communication skills (required).
• Demonstrated interest in democracy, media, information integrity, technology policy; or related areas (preferred).
• Experience with research synthesis, literature reviews, or policy briefs (required).
