[Hiring] Software Quality Engineer @QualityWorks Consulting Group, LLC

YDay - QualityWorks Consulting Group, LLC is hiring a remote Software Quality Engineer. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

We're seeking a Software Quality Engineer to support software quality assurance and AI-powered test automation on a government client engagement. The role focuses on validating application changes, integrations, AI-generated test cases, and autonomous test execution results. You'll identify defects, verify test coverage, and ensure reliable testing outcomes while working within established frameworks and standards. This is a hands-on testing role, not a test architecture or technical leadership position.

What You'll Do

  • Execute functional, regression, integration, API, and exploratory testing.
  • Validate AI-generated test cases and autonomous test execution results.
  • Identify false positives, false negatives, defects, and test coverage gaps.
  • Investigate failures using browser developer tools, logs, network requests, and API responses.
  • Validate application workflows, business rules, integrations, and browser compatibility.
  • Document defects, track remediation, and verify fixes through retesting.
  • Maintain test documentation and traceability between requirements, tests, results, and defects.
  • Follow established automation frameworks, testing standards, and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with developers, technical leadership, and client stakeholders to clarify requirements and improve testing practices.
  • Follow government security, access-control, and data-handling requirements, including protecting GFI and CUI where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of software testing, QA, or quality engineering experience.
  • Experience with functional, regression, integration, API, and exploratory testing.
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
  • Experience evaluating automated test results and distinguishing application defects from test, data, or environment issues.
  • Ability to interpret requirements, investigate application behavior, and document defects clearly.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Jira or similar defect-tracking tools, and cross-browser testing.
  • Ability to work independently while following established testing standards and escalating architecture-level decisions appropriately.
  • U.S. Person status and ability to complete required government background/vetting documentation (e.g., SAAR-N, DD-2875, or applicable Public Trust processes) and security training within required timelines.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting U.S. federal government or Department of Defense software programs.
  • ISTQB, CSTE, or comparable testing certification.
  • Experience with AI-powered, agentic, or autonomous testing platforms.
  • Experience validating AI-generated test cases or AI-generated technical output.
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience with API testing tools.
  • Experience with Jira or comparable test and defect management systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD environments.
  • Familiarity with Section 508/accessibility testing.
  • Familiarity with government cybersecurity, CUI, and system-access requirements.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with competence and experience.
  • Referral bonus in accordance with existing referral programme.

Security & Eligibility Requirements

  • This position supports systems and environments that may require U.S. Government access authorization.
  • Candidates must be based in the United States.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Be able to successfully complete the background investigation and adjudication required for the position.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination for the assigned government program.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain access to applicable DoD/government information systems, including completion and approval of DD Form 2875 – System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) when required.
  • Complete required cybersecurity, information assurance, privacy, and security-awareness training.
  • Comply with applicable government and organizational rules governing system access, credentials, sensitive information, and acceptable use.
  • Maintain continued eligibility for government system access throughout employment when required by the assigned program.
  • Existing Public Trust eligibility or prior experience working in a DoD/federal environment is preferred but is not required unless specified by the applicable contract.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means autonomous testing produces results that engineering and government stakeholders can trust. The Test Engineer provides the human judgment necessary to determine whether autonomous agents tested the right functionality, interpreted requirements correctly, identified legitimate risks, and generated sufficient evidence to support technical and release decisions. The engineer also maintains the security, traceability, and accountability expected when performing testing within a government technology environment.
