Role Description
Mantel is looking for a Senior Project Engineer excited to join a promising carbon capture startup working on the development of molten salts as a novel CO 2 sorbent material. The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for execution of Mantel’s demonstration plant design and build.
- Serve as the project lead, working with Mantel’s senior design engineers
- Coordinate with multiple EPCs, consultants, equipment vendors, and customer engineering/trades/operations
- Complete detailed design, build, and installation of a First Of A Kind demonstration unit
- Build schedule and maintain cross-discipline coordination with Mantel product and R&D teams
- Own project schedule and facilitate weekly status meetings
- Conduct internal and external technical presentations and reporting
- Review and track technical deliverables
- Coordinate with management on project staffing
Mantel is looking for a well-organized, versatile technical problem solver who can think outside the box and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical)
- Experience in industrial plant design and project management
- Field experience in industrial plant construction
- Thorough understanding of engineering drawings, P&IDs, subsystem specifications, cut sheets, product manuals, and engineering test procedures
- Familiarity with industrial safety and process hazard analysis
- Familiarity with piping, welding, and electrical specifications
- Experience in interpreting and applying industry standards, customer/partner requirements, and government regulation compliance
Requirements
- Experience with high-temperature, molten salt, or boiler/steam systems
- Experience in industrial pilot plant commissioning, testing, and/or operations
- Minimum 15-20 years of experience in project engineering, project management, and relevant industry experience
- Location: Cambridge, MA, Calgary or remote
- Travel: 1-2 weeks at a time to partner and customer sites is required
