Role Description

The primary function of the role is to provide engineering functional management of the team of 5 or more project engineers, some working remotely.

Provide functional management to Project Engineering team, focusing on meeting technical and programmatic objectives.
Assign appropriate engineering project management personnel to product lines, programs, and projects; recruit staff as necessary to meet business demands.
Provide leadership and management oversight, technical insight, guidance, mentorship, and coaching to project management engineering personnel.
Manage performance review and career development processes and conduct cyclical compensation reviews.
Develop engineering training and professional development opportunities and execution strategies.
Ensure personnel adherence to established company processes and procedures.
Support cost estimating activities, including proposals, IRAD, capital, and overhead budget developments.
Ensure accountability for creation of accurate technical, cost, and schedule targets.
Help to assess technical risks and identify risk mitigation strategies within engineering teams and adjacent disciplines.
Actively assist Land Systems leadership team in long-term engineering staffing planning and strategy development.
Support collaboration with other engineering functional managers to obtain and prioritize staffing needs.
Contribute to Land Systems’ technology development roadmap planning from project engineering management perspective.
Generate budgets and requests for project engineering function group, including overhead, capital, software, tools, subscriptions, and training.
Assist other divisions’ efforts with project engineering management staffing needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor of Science in Engineering and 15 years of experience in related field, or equivalent combination of advanced degree and experience.
Hands-on, direct experience in engineering project execution and management, related to product development, production, and sustainment in DoD sector.
Working, hands-on experience with matrix functional organization, including recruiting, hiring, performance reviews, career development processes, and other staffing efforts.
Excellent leadership and communication skills across the function, as well as with leadership teams, peers, subordinates, and business partners.
Working experience with DoD and industry engineering processes, procedures, standards, requirements, tools, and practices.
Experience and familiarity with other company functions operations, such as human resources, finance, supply chain, and other engineering functions.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance (Secret minimum, existing clearance a plus).
Domestic and international travel is required, up to 30%.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen.
