[Hiring] Product Engineer @Proto

Role Description

Proto is hiring a Product Engineer to design, build, and scale user-centric features and applications behind our AI agent platform – the products that put AI agents in the hands of governments, regulators, and businesses across emerging markets.

You will bridge product management, engineering, and user experience, taking full ownership of end-to-end features from concept to production. You will work in a lean, remote-first team where good ideas quickly become live code in production.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end product development, bridging customer needs, UX design, and robust backend/frontend implementation.
• Turn complex AI capability into intuitive products and interfaces that make AI agent deployment seamless for every target use case.
• Develop user-facing web applications, workflow builders, dashboards, and APIs for Proto's AI agent platform.
• Use AI to design, debug, implement, and ship code faster.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, client support, and core engineering teams to iterate on product features based on user feedback.
• Maintain high software standards for reliability, accessibility, security, and maintainability across the entire stack.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Product Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, or Software Engineer building user-facing web applications.
• Strong proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript) and backend technologies (Python, FastAPI, Node.js).
• Proven track record of taking product features from ideation to launch, with a focus on user experience, performance, and scalability.
• Ability to translate ambiguous client needs and requirements into strategic plans for deliverables.
• Strong data-driven mindset and experience implementing analytics, telemetry, and user feedback loops to improve each product use case.
• A habit of using modern AI tools and agents to boost productivity and code quality.
• Consider production impact, hardware concerns, scalability, and logical simplicity when writing code and designing solutions.

Requirements

• Experience with relational databases, RESTful APIs, and modern web application architecture.
• Familiarity with Cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of product analytics, usability principles, and design systems.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or AI agent frameworks into user workflows.
• Background in SaaS product development, developer platforms, or no-code/low-code interface builders.
• Experience designing for emerging markets or multilingual multi-channel platforms (WhatsApp, SMS, Voice, Web chat).
