[Hiring] Director, Product Staff @Meta

Role Description

Product Staff is how we build at Instagram: small, talent-dense teams of product builders, engineers, designers, and data scientists focused on creating amazing products directly. We are looking for product builders who value moving quickly and embrace AI-native product development.

Responsibilities

• Vision & Strategy:
  • Primary driver for identifying and shaping transformative, long-term opportunities across multiple large Product areas or portfolios.
  • Generates buy-in and drives consensus across multiple organizations and senior leadership.
  • Sets the standard for critically evaluating when AI is (and isn't) the optimal solution across product portfolios.
  • Champions AI-native strategies including comprehensive evals and data strategies.
• Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Leads a team through the ideation, technical development, and launch of innovative products.
  • Drives product development with a team of world-class engineers and designers.
  • Attracts, builds, manages, and develops a talented team of product staff and leaders.
  • Reimagines workflows, using AI tools to transform team velocity and capability.
  • Fosters a culture of rapid experimentation and learning.
  • Scales AI best practices, workflows, and artifacts across teams.
  • Structures an organization effectively around critical priorities and goals.
  • Proactively increases the capacity of the effort through efficiency and recruiting.
  • Owns org-wide standards and company-wide quality oversight standards.
• Execution & Prioritization:
  • Orchestrates complex execution across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Maximizes efficiency in a constantly evolving environment.
• Technical / Analytical / Design:
  • Sets expectations for product technical capability, including use of AI-enabled tools.
  • Integrates usability studies, research, and market analysis into product requirements.
  • Ensures teams understand system/architecture trade-offs.
• Communication:
  • Expresses complex and technical concepts at the right altitude.
• Measurement & Impact:
  • Defines and analyzes metrics that inform the success of products.
  • Establishes evaluation (evals) as a first-class product practice.
  • Drives decision-making through user insights and quantitative analysis.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Product Management and/or Product Design.
• 10+ years of experience working collaboratively with engineering, design, and user research teams.
• 8+ years of experience hiring, managing, and developing both individual contributors and senior leaders.
• Critical thinking/analytical leadership experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI-enabled tools to build product artifacts at scale.
• Experience developing and championing AI-native strategies across organizations.
• Experience presenting to senior executive audiences.
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.

Requirements

• $249,000/year to $323,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.
