Role Description

The Director, Strategic Operations serves as a strategic partner to regional practice leadership and the practice support infrastructure, supporting practice-level planning, prioritization, and performance in service of enterprise objectives across The US Oncology Network (The Network).

The Strategic Operations role supports the development, prioritization, and execution of practice-level and enterprise-aligned strategic plans that drive operational effectiveness, growth, and long-term sustainability. This role brings structured problem-solving, operational performance insight, and execution support to evaluate strategic opportunities, assess operational risk, and translate priorities into actionable plans.

As a Director-level individual contributor, this role operates through influence in a highly matrixed environment, partnering with regional practice leadership, practice support functions, and enterprise stakeholders to drive alignment, accelerate decision-making, and ensure follow-through on priority initiatives. The role is accountable for bringing clarity, structure, and actionable recommendations to complex operational and strategic challenges.

This position requires strong business and financial acumen, executive-ready communication, and the ability to connect practice-level realities with broader Network objectives. The Director, Strategic Operations serves as a trusted thought partner who can identify emerging risks, deliver decision-ready insights, support business case development, and help leaders prioritize the work that will have the greatest impact.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in healthcare operations, oncology practice management, oncology strategic operations, consulting, or a related field, with demonstrated experience supporting complex operational or strategic initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects or initiatives in a clinical, operational, consulting, or enterprise support environment.

• Strong business and financial acumen, ability to evaluate financial reports and develop operational assumptions and financial projections for project outcomes.

• Must possess the ability to work independently, organize work effectively and take initiative in a fast-paced work environment.
• Must possess strong business and technical writing abilities.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to work with and influence senior leaders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to connect insights across practices, functions, workstreams, and enterprise priorities.
• Superior project management skills with demonstrated experience successfully managing a cross-functional or cross-departmental team on a complex project.
• Ability to generate and execute creative ideas related to making communications engaging and distinctive.
• Ability to work well under pressure and effectively and professionally navigate tough situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing ownership, partnership, and follow-through.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; experience with data visualization or dashboard tools preferred.

Education

• MBA, MHA, or graduate degree strongly preferred.

Travel

• Approximately 50%-60%.

• Pay range: $158,700 - $264,500.
• Other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
