[Hiring] Spanish Medical Interpreter @The Blond HR

Role Description

This position is with a global interpretation services provider to hire 20 Spanish to English Interpreters to work remotely. As a consecutive medical interpreter, you will facilitate clear communication between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients, over the phone and by video.

• Interpretation: Accurately interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatments, and other information between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, and medical staff.
• Cultural mediation:
  • Help patients understand and navigate the healthcare system.
  • Help providers understand cultural differences that may affect patient care.
• Confidentiality: Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to the ethical standards of the interpretation profession.
• Documentation: Record each interpretation session, including date, time, duration, and type of interpretation.
• Professional development: Keep up to date with current medical terminology and healthcare practices.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Experience in medical interpretation or translation or transcribing.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with the healthcare system.
• Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 Mbps download and upload internet speed, with a wired (Ethernet) LAN connection.
• Computer with a 5th generation processor or higher and at least 8GB RAM.
• USB headset (mandatory).
• HD webcam.
• A quiet, professional workspace suitable for confidential medical conversations.

Benefits

• Independent contractor position.
• Pay rate: 5 USD per hour, paid monthly via Payoneer only.
• Hourly shift program in the EST time zone. Shift timings are shared a couple of days before training begins.
• Attendance and QA bonuses are available on top of the hourly rate.
• No leave is permitted during the first month, except in emergencies with prior supervisor approval.
• Paid mandatory training of 80 hours over 10 business days. Training is paid at half the agreed hourly rate, for interpreters who pass the assessment and start working with the company.
• A final language assessment is conducted through LanguageStat. Interpreters who pass receive portal credentials and platform guidance from the IT team. You then log in during your scheduled shifts to take calls.
