Role Description
Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Provides professional health care services for federal prisoners confined within a BOP facility via BOP telehealth network.

Responsible for meeting the health needs (both physical and/or mental) of the inmates assigned to his/her caseload, served remotely via telehealth services.

Responsible for providing psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and programs for patients suspected of having mental disorders.

Responsible for the development of the master treatment plan and mental health component of the ambulatory treatment plan and subsequent reviews for patients under their care.

Ensures continuity of psychiatric care given to the patients assigned to their caseload.

Provides psychiatric services to ensure optimal mental health for inmates and directs efforts to achieve a psychological climate conducive to rehabilitation.

Charged with maintaining security of the institution, with correctional responsibilities preceding all others required by this position.
Qualifications

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a recognized school.

Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Physician from a U.S. state or territory.

Graduate Training: At least 1 year of supervised experience in a clinical setting.

Additional Requirements: Five years of graduate training in Psychiatry or equivalent experience.

Specialized training in areas such as addiction, dual diagnosis, DBT, CPT, or IPT.

Experience with special mental health programs, e.g., self-harm behaviors.

Multi-lingual capabilities as it relates to professional practice.

Specific correctional psychiatry experience, if any.

U.S. Citizenship is Required.

Meet CTAP or ICTAP eligibility criteria for Federal and/or DOJ employees.

Submit appropriate documentation to support CTAP eligibility.
