Role Description
The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.
Schedule: This is a 40-hour work week and an 8-hour shift Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm PST. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities

Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, insurance information.

Perform insurance verification on the date of service.

Use multiple computer and phone systems to fulfill patient needs over the phone.

Ability to perform patient outreach via telephone.

Obtain patient signatures for required documents.

Upload a valid Government issued state ID of patient and patient insurance cards.

Accurate and complete occupational medicine registration workflow.
-
File and maintain medical records.

Perform referral and prior authorization documentation promptly.

First point of contact for our patients. Sets the tone for a positive experience.

Exhibit empathy, courtesy, competence, efficiency, and care.

Schedule appointments and procedures, following standard guidelines.

Verify patient information, while documenting in their Electronic Health Record (EPIC).

Advise patients of their responsibilities regarding insurance and referral information.

Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other health care professionals.

Notify clinical staff of schedule changes as they occur.

Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care.

Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and monitoring the fax server.

Participate in orientation (scheduling segment) of new field employees and distribute updates and changes as needed.

Organize and maintain medical records.

Keep abreast on current medical requirements relevant to their position, including maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements.

Complete new clinical competencies rolled out by the Educational Committee.

Work independently and assist with clinical duties on a limited basis.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
High school Diploma/GED.
-
1+ years of experience working in a medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records or healthcare experience.

Intermediate level of computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; able to use multiple web applications.

Access to a designated quiet workspace in your home (separated from non-workspace areas) with the ability to secure Protected Health Information (PHI).

Live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.
Preferred Qualifications

Compensation
The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
