Role Description

Under the direction of the Driver Medical Fitness Program Manager, Nurse Case Managers are responsible for making determinations of individual’s medical fitness to drive or hold a driver’s licence for all classes of motor vehicles under the provisions of the Driver Medical Fitness program. The CCMTA Medical Standards with BC Specific Guidelines is the decision guiding tool used by RoadSafetyBC Nurses in rendering licensing decisions.

• Provide advice to Intake Agents and/or Adjudicators on more complex cases.
• Review completed files to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
• Work under pressure, under time limits, with limited direction.
• Occasionally deal with hostile clients on the phone.
• Independently exercise sound judgment, particularly in making decisions in the face of conflicting evidence.
• Demands initiative, discretion, and a wide spectrum of nursing knowledge.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse, eligible to practice nursing in the Province of British Columbia under the Registered Nurses Act, and in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Minimum of two (2) years assessing complex medical information as a Registered Nurse.
• Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
• Experience in making decisions consistent with the principles of administrative fairness.
• A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing.
• Three (3) or more years experience assessing complex medical information as a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

• Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
• This position may require occasional travel to Victoria.
• An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
• A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
• Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
