Role Description
The Medical Value Director is a field-based Medical Affairs role responsible for scientific exchange and insight generation with external stakeholders, with a primary emphasis on engaging payer and reimbursement audiences (national and regional health plans, PBMs, and Medicaid). The role delivers fair-balanced scientific and clinical presentations, supports payer evidence needs through coordinated insights, and enables reimbursement readiness through development and maintenance of payer-facing scientific materials. The incumbent is also a resource to company management regarding market dynamics, business development, and client feedback.

Establishes, manages, and maintains successful relationships with payer stakeholders.

Delivers fair-balanced and objective clinical and scientific presentations to payers.

Supports reimbursement readiness by partnering with Market Access and HEOR/RWE.

Tails scientific communication for payer decision-makers by translating clinical evidence.
-
Captures payer insights and communicates synthesized findings to internal stakeholders.

Leads/coordinates the development and ongoing maintenance of US payer scientific decks.

Maintains and updates Letters of Medical Necessity and supporting templates/resources.

Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure payer-facing narratives incorporate relevant evidence.

Develops and delivers training and ongoing updates for internal teams on payer insights.

Acts as a mentor to junior team members.
Qualifications
-
Advanced scientific degrees (PhD, PharmD, MD, DNP, MSN, MS, Registered Dietician, or Genetic Counselor) with 5+ years of experience as Medical Science liaison.

Experience supporting an orphan product and/or previous clinical experience in Inborn Errors of Metabolism, genetics, and/or rare diseases.

Experience supporting high-cost products distributed through specialty pharmacy.

In-depth experience working with KOLs, clinicians, HCPs, and payers.

Demonstrated ability to deliver high-impact, fair-balanced presentations to payer audiences.

Strong experience gathering and synthesizing payer insights.

Working understanding of RWE and HEOR concepts.

Ability to influence without direct authority.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated success in interpreting scientific data and presenting research information.

Skilled in delivering high-impact presentations to stakeholders.

Proven experience in developing and conducting engaging training sessions.

Strong analytical skills to evaluate new data and translate findings into strategies.

This position requires overnight travel.

Daily entry to hospitals and other medical facilities is required.
Requirements

Benefits

Expected Base Salary Range: $201,000 - $240,000.
