Role Description

The MSL/Senior MSL I is a field-based scientific expert that strategically supports the research and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle for a specific geography/territory. The primary communicator of AbbVie science within a specific geography with healthcare professionals.

• Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support to AbbVie initiatives in ovarian and gyn-oncology solid tumor areas.
• Viewed as a peer scientific expert in a designated therapeutic area/product.
• Serves as a conduit of information, education, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future therapies in development or commercialized by AbbVie.
• Works closely with other AbbVie personnel to ensure information, education, and research needs of healthcare professionals are met.
• Ensures scientific and technical training needs of commercial organizations are identified and met.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers in assigned areas of therapeutic interest.
• Present scientific information and education relative to disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle to healthcare professionals.
• Support research initiatives as requested by AbbVie R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs Departments.
• Prepare marketplace in new therapeutic areas of interest, creating awareness and relationships for AbbVie in the Medical community.
• Create, maintain, and collaborate in relationships with internal cross-functional partnerships.
• Work with in-field commercial teams to develop and execute Account plans designed to support shared business objectives.
• Serve as a medical/scientific resource to healthcare providers through answering unsolicited medical questions.
• Conduct ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel as directed.
• Practice core capabilities in strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required (i.e., Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, APP in a relevant scientific discipline). Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline.
• Senior MSL I: Minimum 2 years of relevant oncology experience; typically 3+ years of direct MSL experience.
• MSL: Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant disease or therapeutic area experience.
• Ability to reside in the assigned territory within 3 months of start date (relocation assistance is not provided).
• Must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software skills.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills; ability to quickly adapt and learn new technology.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and teaching skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team structure.
• Strong planning and organizational skills; team and leadership skills.
• Meet health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements.
• Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively.
• Ability to engage the audience and help them understand and retain information.
