Role Description
The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week

Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities include assisting with execution of a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)-funded project. This project seeks to develop a framework for patient engagement in research for heart and brain health.

Support planning and execution of grant reporting and administration.

Support meeting and event planning with key stakeholders and volunteers.

Working with the AHA staff, leadership, research investigators and patient partners, inform the development and timely completion of key project deliverables.

Collaborate with internal partners across evaluation, science, research administration, and program implementation teams.

Assist with volunteer management and communications.
Qualifications
-
Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in public health, pre-med, or a related health science field.

Must be comfortable with volunteer outreach (phone calls & emails to volunteers).

Experience/interest in health research.

Experience with project management.

Clinical experience is a plus.

Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.

Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Must be available to attend an in-person event on February 22nd, 2027, in Dallas, TX.

Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.

Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
