Role Description

As a Clinical Dietitian, you will provide expert nutrition care, developing and implementing individualized plans to improve patient health outcomes. Every day you will clearly communicate nutritional data across all systems and participate in health team meetings as the resident nutrition expert. To be successful in this role, you will integrate robust clinical expertise with empathetic, evidence-based care, consistently adhering to professional standards and fostering effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.

  • Clinical Screening & Assessment: Perform comprehensive nutritional screenings and assessments using validated, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive tools to establish accurate clinical diagnoses.
  • Intervention & Care Planning: Develop and implement evidence-based nutrition care plans—including specific feeding routes and prescriptions—that align with medical conditions and physician orders.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Act as a key member of the multi-specialty care team to facilitate high-level patient care, coordinate services (including CCS for neonates), and support clinical staff.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Continuously monitor patient progress, measure goal achievement, update care plans, and conduct timely follow-ups to ensure optimal nutritional outcomes.
  • Operational Excellence: Partner with Food and Nutrition Services to ensure menu compliance, diet order accuracy, and high-quality customer service through audits and trayline reviews.
  • Education & Mentorship: Lead training sessions for clinical staff on Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), mentor interns and junior dietitians, and provide expert-level care for high-acuity populations.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years acute hospital experience working with patients in more complex levels of care to specialized populations (e.g. pediatric, bariatric, ICU, etc.).
  • Bachelor's Degree with completion of accredited dietitian program (ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition Dietetics).
  • Valid registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Valid dietitian licensure if required by state. Licensure must be obtained within 6 weeks of hire or as required by local regulation.
  • Must have at least one advanced Board Certification as a specialist or paneled with CCS or may have an equivalent combination of education, advanced certification and experience in lieu of advanced Board Certification.
