Role Description

The NEY GMS brings together regional Clinical and Laboratory Partners, all working together to improve health and equity of access to genomic tests, diagnosis and related treatments for patients in the region.

The NEY GMS is governed via a partnership arrangement that is delivered by a regional GMS executive team which has operational responsibility for the quality of services.

The Clinical Director – Rare Disease, working as part of the NEY GMS Executive Team, will lead the strategic development of the Rare Disease clinical function across the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service. The role will:

• Provide senior clinical leadership to support equitable access to genomic testing, diagnosis and personalised care pathways for patients with rare and inherited conditions.
• Bring together clinicians, clinical genetics services and laboratory partners across the region to drive innovation and improve patient outcomes.
• Ensure the effective implementation of genomic medicine at scale.
